An apparatus for coating grease on a small-sized image pickup device is provided to prevent generation of fine powder of synthetic resin and prevent the fine powder from dropping to the inside of a holder by coating grease on the inner surface of a holder opening corresponding to a housing of a small-sized image pickup device and by attaching the barrel of a camera lens to the opening of the holder. An image sensor chip is mounted on a substrate. The substrate is fixed to a holder corresponding to a housing covering the image sensor chip. An IR(infrared) filter is installed in the holder. A lens barrel(50) made of a camera lens(55) is installed in a opening on the holder. Grease with a fine thickness is coated on the inner surface of the holder to minimize the fraction occurring when the lens barrel is inserted into the inner surface of the opening of the holder. The barrel of the camera lens can be screw-coupled to the opening of the holder.
