A surface light source having an electrical insulating characteristic and heat-sink structure is provided to prevent the generation of cracks due to a temperature difference by maintaining uniform temperature. A surface light source includes a light source body, a plurality of protruded electrodes, a lower end electrode(110a), and an electrical insulating characteristic and heat-sink structure material(500). The light source body includes a plurality of discharge paths(400) to be connected with each other. The protruded electrodes are attached to external walls of both ends of the light source body. The protruded electrodes are disposed opposite to each other and correspond to the discharge paths. The lower end electrode is formed at both ends of a lower plate glass. The electrical insulating characteristic and heat-sink structure material is coated in the same line direction of the discharge paths.
