A turbocharger has a compressor (3) and a compressor wheel between inflow and outflow areas of the compressor. A smoothing chamber (12) is provided along an upwards stream leading to a compressor inflow area (8) for flow conditioning of the air that flows to the compressor. The air flows into the inflow area via an inflow channel (13), which is guided in the smoothing chamber. A longitudinal axis (16) of the inflow channel is inclined at angle opposite to a longitudinal axis (14) of the chamber.
