The method involves determining an actual staggering pivot point (gamma NF) from vehicle-dynamic signals and vehicle geometry by analyzing Newton`s motion equation, where the signals are detected with a sensor device. The pivot point and other possible staggering pivot points are compared with a predetermined threshold value. The overrunning movement of a motor vehicle (10) is plausibled, if the predetermined threshold value is exceeded. An independent claim is also included for a device for plausibling of an overrunning movement of a motor vehicle.
