The method involves verifying plausibility of the signals of a temperature sensor (S) according to a time gradient of signals. The signals are judged as non plausible if the variation of the signal exceeds a threshold value and if the amplitude of the variations is situated between the former and another threshold value. A counter is incremented for the variations of the signals between the former and latter threshold values. An independent claim is also included for a device of monitoring a thermal motor.
