A bipolar plate comprises a film (8) with a channel (2,.3) formed on both sides to the front and rear to form a similar recessed channel structure and that divides the available structural height of the plate in a crossing region by raising the channel floors. Spiral or meander channels formed in the crossing region end in outer inlet pockets formed in the same directions as the alternately forward and rearward channels.
