Seedlings or young flowering plants (14) are grown on a thin layer of soil or flexible support material (10). The turfs with the young plants are then placed (12) directly on top of the grass (16) of the lawn. As the grass deprived of light by the turfs withers, the roots of the flowering plants grow down through the grass into the soil under the grass.
