The method involves providing a control unit with which a position and distance of a reference point of a measuring surface are detected. A relative position and distance of a marking in relation to the point are measured, and a distance of another reference point is detected. A visualization of the marking is carried out corresponding to the relative position and the distance of the former reference point based on the latter point. An independent claim is also included for a device for visualizing a marking on an object.
