The coffee roaster for roasting small quantities of coffee bean, comprises a cylindrical roasting chamber, blower with an opening for sucking air for the supply of air into chamber, an exhaust port, a heating mechanism (13) and a rotary nozzle tube. The exhaust port is arranged upstream to a separator for the coffee bean residues transported with the exhaust air and a heating mechanism in air-supply pipe (11). A part of air is blown through a tubing gap, which is formed by the air-supply pipe and a drive pipe (12) and is heated up by the exhaust gases. The hot-air is blown into the roasting chamber over the rotary nozzle tube. The hot-air is deflected at 30-45[deg] towards the bottom of the roasting chamber by means of a nozzle (15). The air pressure adjustment takes place according to the raw coffee quantity, by bypassing the pressure- and the suction side of the lateral channel compressor by means of an adjustable flap. A bleed valve is intended in air-supply duct to limit the air pressure of the supply air during filling of raw coffee into the roasting chamber. A stop valve (41) is intended in the nozzle tube to reduce blow-off volume during the emptying of the roasting chamber.
