The method involves calibrating slip forces found based on a wheel start position and an rotation angle of the wheel set. A Fourier transformation are carried out for the slip forces by residual ripple order constants. The residual ripple correction constant is measured from the order constants by an inverse Fourier transformation. The correction constants are removed from the calculated changes of extensions in the coordinate system fixed to rails.
