Self-centering hub has a hub plate for fastening the timing disk or code carrier and a slotted hub shaft which plugs onto the end of a shaft of a drive or drive unit. The hub shaft (1, 2) is a form-fit in a circular clamping piece (4) between hub outer surface and inner wall of the clamping piece. The form-fit is such that an axial movement between the hub and clamping piece is transmitted as a radially inwards force in the area of the slotted hub shaft, which acts as a force-fit.
