Syringe with projection to exert pressure around injection site and reduce pain of injection, includes finger receiving ring(s) on sheath around the syringe to allow operation with one hand

In a syringe device with a needle (8) and a sheath (20) to receive the syringe, where the front of the sheath has a projection (25) to press the skin around the injection site before insertion of the needle, the sheath also includes ring(s) (29) through which at least one of the operator's fingers can be pressed, to apply the pressure to the skin, while simultaneously operating the syringe with the same hand. A syringe device (1) includes a needle (8) and a sheath (20) defining an internal cavity to receive at least part of the syringe via a first opening in the rear part of the sheath. A second opening (27) in the front part (24) of the sheath is traversed by the needle when the syringe is inserted in the sheath. The front part (24) has a projecting part (25), continuously or discontinuously located around the second hole, to form at least one contact zone or front side (26) which presses the skin of the patient around the injection site before insertion of the needle. At least one of the operator's fingers can be pressed through a grip (9) on the syringe to carry out the injection. The novel feature is that the sheath also includes ring(s) (29) through which at least one of the operator's fingers can be pressed, to apply the pressure to the skin around the injection site, while simultaneously operating the syringe with the same hand. Independent claims are included for: (1) a variant of the syringe, in which the finger receiving rings are not necessarily present and the projecting part has a rim (28) separated from the second opening by 2-4 (preferably 2.5) mm; and (2) the syringe covering sheath (20) as described above.
