The carding machine comprises at least one rotary cylinder (5), at least two fixed lateral sides (f) are mounted on either side of the cylinder, and at least one stationary fairing (11) which is mounted in the vicinity of the cylinder and which covers the cylinder (5) over at least one sector of its periphery. The carding machine comprises first means (15, 9e) which are external to the chamber, which make it possible to feed the lateral chamber (e) with air, and which are preferably connected to the lateral chamber (e) through the lateral flange (f). In operation, each lateral chamber is put under pressure and forms a chamber for blowing the air flow towards the outside of the chamber, which air stream advantageously form an obstacle to the penetration of fibers.
