The engine has a combustion chamber (1), and a supply system comprising a pressure wave supercharger (2) and a turbocharger (3). The turbocharger has a compressor (34) for supplying the supercharger with fresh compressed air. The supercharger is interposed between the turbocharger and the combustion chamber with reference to inlet and exhaust circuits (4, 5). The circuit (4) has fresh air inlet conduit (41) for supplying fresh air to the compressor, and a conduit (42) for supplying air compressed by the compressor to the supercharger. An independent claim is also included for a method for controlling an engine of a vehicle.
