The invention relates to a wiper system (16) for a horizontal window surface (14) of a motor vehicle, which comprises a wiper arm (18) of longitudinal main axis (A) comprising: - a section rear end member (20) which is pivotally mounted about a transverse axis (C) of pivoting geometry, on a drive head (28) of the alternately rotating windscreen wiper around a drive shaft vertical (B); a free front end section (22) carrying a wiper blade (24) which is to be pressed against the glass surface (14) with a wiping pressure; at least one intermediate section (42) which is elastically deformable in a vertical longitudinal plane, characterized in that it comprises means (44, 52) for causing the displacement of the front end (43) of the rear end section ( 20) of the wiper arm (18) by pivoting the rear end section (20) relative to the drive head (28), depending on the angular position of the drive arm (18) around the drive shaft (B) to vary the wiping pressure of the wiper blade (24).
