PPROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method of manufacturing a single-crystal seed which is usable as a starter seed in the manufacture of a single-crystal high-pressure turbine nozzle having a vane between two platforms by metal casting. PSOLUTION: A wax pattern includes a first component by which the pattern of the single-crystal high-pressure turbine nozzle is formed, a second component by which the pattern of the starter seed is formed and which includes a plane for localizing crystal orientation, and a third component by which the pattern of a crude seed having the plane for localizing the crystal orientation incorporated. A ceramic shell mold is formed from the above wax pattern and the starter seed, includes the above plane for localizing the crystal orientation and is incorporated in the mold. A metal is poured into the mold, the metal undergoes directional solidification in the mold from the starter seed so that the obtained crude seed has the same crystal structure as the parts and the obtained crude seed is separated from the parts for subsequent use as the starter seed.
