PPROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a liquid specific gravity measuring instrument capable of measuring continuously and precisely a specific gravity of a liquid such as a lead acid battery electrolyte. PSOLUTION: This liquid specific gravity measuring instrument has a displacement measuring means having a measuring container for storing a float floating in the liquid and fluctuated in a vertical position with respect to a liquid level of the liquid in response to the specific gravity of the liquid, and the liquid, and having a liquid supply port for supplying the liquid to the measuring container, a liquid discharge port for discharging the liquid in the measuring container, and a weir for holding the liquid level of the liquid in the measuring container at a fixed level, and for measuring the vertical position of the float with non-contact, and is provided with a detector for detecting the liquid specific gravity, based on vertical position information of the float detected by the displacement measuring means.
