PPROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an unburned fuel estimating device for an engine, and a temperature estimating device of an exhaust emission control device capable of highly accurately estimating a quantity of unburned fuel of the engine and temperature of the exhaust emission control device including a DPF. PSOLUTION: A device (ECU50) for estimating the quantity of the unburned fuel (mainly an HC quantity) exhausted from the engine 10 after burning fuel and the temperature of the DPF 17 based on a required engine operation state as a control target value, comprises an exhaust gas temperature sensor 17b detecting the temperature of exhaust gas directly exhausted from the engine 10, and a program for compensating an estimation error related to an estimated value of the quantity of the unburned fuel estimated from the required engine operation state or the error in the operation state between the required engine operation state and an actual engine operation state based on the temperature of the exhaust gas from the engine detected by the exhaust gas temperature sensor 17b.
