PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a garnet single crystal which can be grown while suppressing the thickness of the garnet single crystal to 550 μm by an LPE method and has a rotation angle of 45° and exhibits temperature characteristic of ≤0.030°/°C in absolute value in a simple substance, and to provide a method for producing the same.;SOLUTION: The bismuth-substituted type terbium-iron-garnet single crystal for a wavelength band of 1.3 μm, which is composed of a simple substance having a lattice constant within a range of 12.482-12.484 Å and a Faraday rotation angle of 45° and exhibiting temperature characteristic of ≤0.030°/°C in absolute value, is produced. In the method for producing the single crystal, a bismuth-substituted type terbium-iron-garnet single crystal having a lattice constant within a range of 12.482-12.484 Å is grown on a non-magnetic garnet crystal substrate having a lattice constant within a range of 12.482-12.486 Å by the LPE method.;COPYRIGHT: (C)2008,JPO&INPIT
