PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for producing a garnet single crystal in which terbium (Tb) is used as a host rare earth element and which is more improved in temperature characteristics of the Faraday rotation angle in comparison with a conventional one.;SOLUTION: In the method for producing the bismuth substituted-type terbium-iron garnet single crystal, a bismuth substituted-type terbium-iron garnet single crystal for a wavelength band of 1.3 μm is grown on a non-magnetic garnet crystal substrate having a lattice constant of 12.465-12.480 Å by an LPE method, and a bismuth substituted-type terbium-iron garnet single crystal for a wavelength band of 1.5 μm is grown on a non-magnetic garnet crystal substrate having a lattice constant of 12.467-12.475 Å by the same method.;COPYRIGHT: (C)2006,JPO&NCIPI
