PPROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image density correcting method, an image forming apparatus, a density correction system, a density correcting device, a density correcting program, and a recording medium on which the program is recorded, wherein an image of a suitable color tone having density variance suppressed is formed. PSOLUTION: A main controller 30 of the image forming apparatus comprises: a patch image generation control means 130 of making a printing engine form a plurality of patch images differing in set density from each other; a density reading control unit 135 which makes a density reading sensor read the plurality of formed patch images to acquire reading densities by the patch images; a stable state judging unit 140 which judges whether color tones in image formation are stable from density variance among the plurality of read densities; and a stabilization control unit 145 which changes a color converting method, adjustments of density balance, and half-tone processing to predetermined settings with which the density variation is easily suppressed when it is judged that the color tones in the image formation are unstable.
