PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a volume reducing and storing system of wood chips capable of storing wood chips after reducing their volume.;SOLUTION: The wood chips 1 carried to a feed stock yard 100 are charged to a feed hopper 210 in a volume reducing step 200 to coat the surface thereof with a binder in a mixing hopper 240. Then they are formed to a block 3 with a size and weight able to be handled by a man by a compressing molder 260. The block 3 has strength set up so that the block may be crushed by power lower than power for crushing a waste wood to chips thereof but should not be broken during a process of loading, storing and handling the block 3. The blocks 3 are piled in order on a pallet 4 by using a palletizer 280 and stored in a block stock yard 300. The blocks 3 are shipped by loading on a transporting truck or the like, responding to user's order for the wood chips.
