PPROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for culturing sand-submerged bivalves, by which feeds can surely be supplied through four seasons in a simple structure and the spats of the sand-submerged bivalves can be enlarged and grown continuously, and to provide an apparatus therefor. PSOLUTION: In this method for culturing the sand-submerged bivalves a granular material is laid in seawater, fresh water or brackish water, breeding periphytic fine algae on the surface of the granular material, the sand-submerging bivalves are received in the granular material, and the periphytic fine algae is used as a feed. This apparatus 1a for culturing the sand-submerged bivalves is characterized by comprising a receiving portion 2 comprising an upper side-opened dent portion, a granular material 3 which is laid on the bottom of the receiving portion 2, receives the sand-submerged bivalves, and is used for bleeding the periphytic fine algae as the feed for the sand-submerged bivalves, a water supply portion 4 for supplying seawater, fresh water or brackish water to the receiving portion 2, and a drainage portion 6 for draining the seawater, fresh water or brackish water.
