Provided is an electron beam-excited blue phosphor, which is a rare earth-activated alkaline earth thiosilicate represented by a general formula M1_xM2_2-xSi₂O_yS_6-yRa_z where M1 and M2 each represent an alkaline earth metal, Ra represents a rare earth ion Ce³⁺ or Eu²⁺, and x, y, and z satisfy relationships of 0≦x≦2, 0y6, and z≧0.005, respectively.
