The invention provides methods and ocmpositions for the treatment ofdepressive states refractory to treatment with traditionalanti-depressive therapies alone. These methods and compositions employ acompound having activity as an atypical antipsychotic and aserotonin reuptake inhibitor. This invention also provides methods ofproviding rapid onset treatments of major depression which employinga compound having activity as an atypical antipsychotic and a serotoninreuptake inhibitor.
