The invention relates to a method for reducing speckle patterns of a three-dimensional holographic reconstruction. According to said method, a controllable light modulator (1) into which a three-dimensional scene is coded is illuminated by coherent light, a reconstruction means (21, 22) projects the modulated light close to an eye position (PE) into a space of observation and a control means (7) controls the illumination. The aim of the invention is to provide a holographic reproduction device in which the speckle pattens occurring during reconstruction of a three-dimensional scene are reduced. Another aim is to provide a next-to-real time method using a carrier medium of conventional image refresh rate. For this purpose, the light controlled by the control means (7) is used to produce, starting from the three-dimensional scene encoded in the light modulator, different independent light distributions of complex-value wavefronts of the same three-dimensional scene in the eye position, said light distributions being incoherent with respect to each other. Reconstructions of the three-dimensional scene that correspond to the different complex-value wavefronts are produced in a reconstruction space in the same location and are incoherently superposed so that from the eye position a single speckle-reduced reconstruction of the three-dimensional scene (6) is seen.
