The protection device (PU) comprises a data processing unit (DE) with an operating memory (BS), in which an operational data (BD) is stored for the operation of the data processing. The protection device has a monitoring logic (UL) and a protection logic (SL). The monitoring logic monitors an unauthorized changes. An independent claim is also included for a method for monitoring a data processing unit.
