A method for compensating active torque of an electric power steering is provided to adjust a mechanical load variation of a hydraulic system by controlling the requirement of steering torque and the actual amount of compensation permission of motor torque. A method for compensating active torque of an electric power steering comprises the steps of starting the compensation control when the vehicle is ignition key on, and controlling the steering assistant torque. When the steering system and logic for determining slopes are prepared, the slope is determined and then the steering assistant torque is controlled with a steering assistant level ground torque logic(Ta) because of the loads of front wheels(Wf) being equal in a level ground. The steering assistant torque is controlled with a steering assistant decreasing torque logic(Ta-) since the loads of front wheels decrease in an ascent slope, and controlled with a steering assistant increasing torque logic(Ta+) since the loads of front wheels increase in an descent slope.
