A small portable terminal is provided to have such an improved structure that the portable terminal itself is inserted into a body of a user without a separate tool such as a headset, thereby imparting a hands-free function to the portable terminal. An antenna radiator receives and transmits an RF signal. A transmitting and receiving unit has an RF module and a modem, which convert the RF signal into a base band signal. A codec unit is included in a body(110) of a terminal. The codec unit converts a PCM(Pulse Code Modulation) signal, which is received from a controller, into a voice signal to output the voice signal through a speaker(120), or converts a voice signal, which is inputted through a microphone(116), into a PCM signal to supply the PCM signal to the controller. The microphone is installed at an end portion of the body. The speaker is extended from the body such that the speaker is insertable into an ear of a user.
