A method for preparing a crosslinked polystyrene particle is provided to obtain a spherical polystyrene particle having an average diameter of 1.0-8.0 micrometers. A method for preparing a crosslinked polystyrene particle comprises the steps of adding a styrene monomer, a crosslinking agent and a polymerization initiator to a reaction solvent and precipitation polymerizing it to prepare a polystyrene particle, wherein the solvent is a mixture solvent comprising acetone and methanol and has a solubility product constant of 9-15 (cal/cm^3)^1/2 and the precipitation polymerization is carried out with a stirring velocity of 10-200 rpm at a temperature of 40-90 deg.C for 6-48 hours.
