A method is provided to produce maximum 4mM of 5-aminolevulinic acid without light during a culturing process and without addition of levulinic acid by using Bacillus cereus. A method for producing 5-aminolevulinic acid comprises the steps of: (a) inoculating Bacillus cereus into a pre-culture medium and pre-culturing it; and (b) inoculating the pre-cultured Bacillus cereus into a main culture medium and culturing it, wherein the Bacillus cereus is Bacillus cereus 1-1(deposition no. KCTC 11067BP) and the pre-culture medium or the main-culture medium includes tryptone, casamino acid and yeast extract.
