An adaptive communication method using path-diversity routing and a communication node executing the same are provided to find out the optimum path every moment in consideration of time-variant constraints and deliver data more rapidly and safely by enabling a MAC(Medium Access Control) layer and a routing layer to participate in establishing a communication path in an ad-hoc network. In transmitting data via a plurality of relay nodes in a distributed network, a source node selects a plurality of neighbor nodes, based on routing information to the final destination node. The source node grants priorities for the neighbor nodes respectively, and transmits an MRTS(MAC-Request To Send) signal containing the MAC address and priority information of each of the neighbor nodes. If CTS(Clear To Send) signals are received from the neighbor nodes, the source node transmits data frames. Then the source node determines whether ACK signals are received.
