The transparent multi-layer composite system capable of reflecting infrared radiation for hardening and/or shaping of substrates and temperature process, comprises a sequence of layers (11) containing a functional layer (5), an anti-reflection coating, a blocking layer (3, 7) and a dielectric interface layer (4, 6, 8). A first, transparent and medium to low refractive dielectric layer (1) is arranged directly on a transparent substrate. The refractive index of the first dielectric layer is the same or slightly higher than the substrate. The transparent multi-layer composite system capable of reflecting infrared radiation for hardening and/or shaping of substrates and temperature process, comprises a sequence of layers (11) containing a functional layer (5), an anti-reflection coating, a blocking layer (3, 7) and a dielectric interface layer (4, 6, 8). A first, transparent and medium to low refractive dielectric layer (1) is arranged directly on a transparent substrate. The refractive index of the first dielectric layer is the same or slightly higher than the substrate. When seen upwardly from the substrate, the top-most layer of the multi-layer composite system is a second, transparent and medium to low refractive dielectric layer. The refractive index of the first dielectric layer is approximately the same or slightly higher than that of the substrate. The first and second, medium to low refractive dielectric layers have the same refractive index at light of a wavelength of 550 nm. The first and/or the second, medium to low refractive, dielectric layers contain blends of other materials. The optical thickness of the first low refractive dielectric layer is smaller than one-eighth of the wavelength that represents the spectral centroid wavelength of the multi-layer composite system. The first and second low refractive dielectric layers are a layer with an oxygen and/or nitrogen concentration gradient that decreases towards the functional layer. When seen upwardly from the substrate, a first, transparent and high-refractive dielectric layer (2) is arranged above the first, medium to low refractive dielectric layer. A second, transparent and high-refractive dielectric layer containing silicon is present as anti-reflection coating. The refractive index or the refractive indices of the first and/or second, high-refractive dielectric layers are 2.0-2.5 at light of a wavelength of 550 nm.
