The vacuum pump has a rotor (2) connected with a rotating drive shaft across a clutch. The clutch is centrifugal clutch (1) that is controlled by the speed of the rotor. The centrifugal clutch has two pivoting clutch jaws (8,9,10) and connected with the rotor. Each of the jaws is pressed against a drive shaft (39) by spring force. Each of the clutch jaws are connected at the rotor, across a pivot, with a pivoting axis (13), which is parallel to a pivoting axis (4) of the rotor and a drive shaft (3).
