The device for treatment of human or animal tissue by means of a movable instrument (10) comprises a device for generating a magnetic stator field (B) in which the tissue is located, especially a magnetic resonance tomograph, at least one conductor loop (11-13) on or in the instrument, and also a generator (20) for generating a current flowing through the conductor loops to generate a magnetic useful field which in interaction with the stator field produces a resulting action for supplying the instrument with a working force. An independent claim is included for a use of a magnetic resonance tomograph for generating a stator field for an electric machine for driving a surgical or therapeutic instrument.
