The method involves providing a sub-frame for a steel car body, where multiple base elements are present in the form of a cover (1) with stiffener (2). The cover is provided for the production of a side panel, a roof and a front panel of the car body. The side panels and roof are transformed to desired geometry. The other base elements are present in the form of ribs that are cut to a desired length. The side panels are welded on the ribs and the frame. The third base elements are present in the form of sheet metals for manufacturing framework welded in the openings and at the front panels. An independent claim is also included for a modular kit for the assembly of a steel car body.
