Production of spherical optical lenses comprises: (A) producing molding cavities (21, 22) in a workpiece (20) by single or multiple electrochemical molding using a metal sphere as a tool, the sphere being shifted laterally if multiple molding is used; (B) optional galvanic molding or replication of the mold; and (C) producing lenses by molding plastic or glass using the mold or its replica. An independent claim is included for lenses produced using the method.
