The crankcase (1) has four cylinders, a crankshaft (2) and a countershaft (3) rotatably supported in the crankcase, where the countershaft is operated by the crankshaft. The countershaft is supported with two needle bearings that are arranged in a bar area (5) between the cylinders, where the bearings comprise an outer ring that is pressed into the crankcase. A mounting borehole (6) is provided in the front side of the case, where the countershaft is inserted into the crankcase through the hole.
