Supported metal catalyst (I), especially for high-temperature applications, comprising a porous support material (A) and a zeolite material (B) with metal particles on its inner surface, in which the support material is essentially free from metal particles. An independent claim is included for a method for the production of (I) by (a) incorporating a metal compound into a zeolite (B), (b) mixing (B) with a porous support (A), (c) calcining the mixture and then (d) converting the metal compound into the metal.
