Zinc oxide single crystals production involves heating a zinc oxide (ZnO) containing crucible from outside by an inductively operated heat source and a defined cooling of the ZnO melt in the crucible by generating temperature gradients. A change in the heating energy of the inductively operated heat source is carried out in connection with a vertical downward movement of the crucible along the heat source or a vertical upward motion of the heat source along the crucible. An independent claim is also included for a device for producing zinc oxide single crystals.
