The device has an imaging unit, which images a part of a vehicle (1) e.g. car, and a road surface in the surrounding of the vehicle using cameras (4a, 4b). A top view video transformation unit transforms a video, which is recorded by the imaging unit into a top view video. A display (5) displays the top view video, which is transformed by the top view video transformation unit. A portion of the image of the vehicle represents the general form of the vehicle, in the top view video.
