The cup or pot shaped device for casing sausage (1) or other rod shaped groceries, comprises a carrier device (2) at which the sausage or the groceries are hanged along a vertical conveyor in working height. The device has an arbitrary cross-section. A diaphragm opening (6) adjusting the sausage diameter/sausage caliber is arranged in the base (5) of the casing device. An inlet for the entry of casing mass (9) into the casing device is arranged on the casing device. The diaphragm opening is electrically adjustable. Inserts are arranged with the diaphragm opening.
