The device for the filtration of cooling/lubrication liquids of machine tools, comprises a collection container (1) for the reception of contaminated liquid, and an outlet container (2) connected with the collection container by filter openings (3) intended at the base of the collection container. The filtered liquid is taken away from the outlet container over a filtrate outlet (7) and suction- and elevator pump. The filter openings are covered by an adjustable band-pass filter (4). In the collection container, the level of liquid exceeds the maximum height of a filter cake. A sensor is arranged at the collection container, detects a rising level of liquid in the collection container and gives a signal for movement of the band-pass filter. The band-pass filter is formed as rotating endless band-pass filter or as winding- and unwinding band-pass filter on rolls. A post drying container is arranged below the band-pass filter with suction openings lying under the filter openings in an area, in which the band-pass filter is not covered with liquid and is connectable via a valve with the outlet container present above the liquid level. The valve is closed during the filter-active stop of the band-pass filter. The outlet cross-section of the filtrate outlet is larger than the outlet rate of the filter opening covered by a filter central layer, so that the level of liquid falls down in the outlet container.
