The machine (2) has a printing unit (6) to print on a continuous band (12) of material to be printed, and a cutting device (10) to cut the printed band. The unit has an ink reservoir (7) containing ink (7A) e.g. bicomponent ink. A traction device (8) is located in downstream of the printing unit and upstream of the cutting device. The traction device applies a determined mechanical stress on the printed band leaving the printing unit, where the band is a coated paper band having a chalk or kaolin layer. An independent claim is also included for a printing method.
