PPROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a gene specifically expressed in an endosperm of plant, a promoter of the gene and the use of the gene and the promoter. PSOLUTION: A new rice glutelin gene GluD-1 expressed specifically in a seed is identified. It is confirmed that a promoter for the GluD-1 gene can induce the seed-specific gene expression and can also induce the expression of a gene located downstream from the promoter in an endosperm-specific manner in the early stage of the seed maturation process.
