PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an IPS liquid crystal panel which reduces the color shift and improves the contrast when viewed from the front and in the oblique direction, and to provide an IPS liquid crystal display device using the liquid crystal panel.;SOLUTION: The IPS liquid crystal panel has a liquid crystal cell driven in the IPS mode and a first polarizing plate and a second polarizing plate disposed on both sides of the liquid crystal cell. The first polarizing plate and the second polarizing plate have transparent protective films laminated on both surfaces of polarizers via adhesive layers. The transparent protective films disposed on the liquid crystal cell sides of the first and second polarizing plates have in-plane retardation of 10 nm or less, and the sum of absolute values of retardation in the thickness direction of the transparent protective films disposed on the liquid crystal cell sides is 10-40 nm, and further at least one of the transparent protective films disposed on the liquid crystal cell sides of the first and second polarizing plates includes a (meth)acrylic resin having a lactone-ring structure.;COPYRIGHT: (C)2009,JPO&INPIT
