PPROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an olivine-type positive electrode active substance that is inexpensive with high safety and functions as a positive electrode active substance having excellent battery characteristics even for high-speed charging and discharging and a method for producing the substance, and to provide a non-aqueous electrolyte battery having a positive electrode containing the substance. PSOLUTION: The olivine-type lithium iron phosphate compound has an average particle diameter of not more than 500 nm and is expressed by general formula: LiSBx/SBFeSBy/SBTiSBp/SBMSBq/SBPOSB4/SB(wherein x, y, p and q satisfy 0x2, 0y1.5, p/y ranging from 0.001 to 0.2 and q/p ranging from 0 to 10, and M represents at least one kind of metal selected from a group consisting of Co, Ni, Mn, Zn, Cu, Mg and Al). The present invention also discloses a method for manufacturing the above compound, a positive electrode active substance containing the compound, and a non-aqueous electrolyte battery having a positive electrode containing the above positive electrode active substance.
