PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide such a method for manufacturing styrene-modified polyethylene-based resin pre-expanded particles by which the polyethylene-based resin particles hardly stick to each other at the time of impregnating a styrene-based monomer into polyethylene-based resin particles and then of polymerizing it.;SOLUTION: The method for manufacturing styrene-modified polyethylene-based resin pre-expanded particles, comprising adding a styrene-based monomer to a polyethylene-based resin particle-containing aqueous suspension, thereby impregnating the styrene-based monomer into polyethylene-based resin particles, polymerizing to give styrene-modified polyethylene-based resin particles, and then expanding them, is characterized in that the polyethylene-based resin particles are the ones which are prepared by extruding an ethylene-vinyl acetate copolymer at a resin temperature from 230 to 280C and by cutting it in an underwater cutting system.;COPYRIGHT: (C)2010,JPO&INPIT
