PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To adjust a toner replenishment by automatically changing over the toner replenishing action to a toner storage part provided in an image forming apparatus regardless of whether or not a toner cartridge which is loaded to the image forming apparatus is new, and to prevent deterioration in involatile memory and in places of contact on the image forming apparatus side when information regarding the toner cartridge stored to the involatile memory provided to the toner cartridge is acquired.;SOLUTION: The toner replenishment is adjusted by carrying out toner replenishing (S20) for a specified time after acquiring information regarding the toner cartridge without any contact and carrying out change over of toner replenishing action (S22 and S23) based on the automatic detection of the toner storage quantity. Furthermore, whether or not the replenishment has been carried out normally or not is decided based on the automatically detected (S24) result of the toner stored quantity after the passage of the specified time after changing over the toner replenishing action.;COPYRIGHT: (C)2005,JPO&NCIPI
