PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To ensure high quality image recording by suppressing generation of uneven density when a gradation pixel is recorded through pseudo halftoning. SOLUTION: When a pseudo halftone image is recorded using dot patterns, a table for storing a plurality of different dot pattern tables is provided for each gray level, one of N dot pattern tables is selected based on the gray level information of each pixel, one dot pattern is selected from the selected dot pattern table based on the positional information of the pixel and used for recording. Since a specific nozzle is not used intensively, generation of uneven density caused by the characteristics of a specific nozzle can be suppressed.
